Oh the dreaded glasses fog! We’ve all been there. Whether it’s enjoying a day outside, wearing a mask for work, or running errands, dealing with foggy lenses is inevitable. And of course with our new normal of wearing a mask when we are out of the house, the struggle for clear lenses has never been greater.
What Causes Glasses Fog
Lens fogging happens anytime there is a temperature difference between your glasses and the outside environment. When warm air hits a cool surface, condensation can form. That’s why your glasses fog up when you walk into a warm room after being out in the cold. The same thing happens with a mask. When warm water vapor from your breath escapes through the top of the mask, it hits the lenses of your glasses and causes them to fog up.
How To Prevent Foggy Glasses
There are a handful of tips and tricks that help fight foggy glasses. For example, some people recommend washing your glasses or sunglasses lenses with soapy water and shaking off the excess moisture before wearing them. Another helpful hack is applying a dollop of shaving cream to your lenses and wiping it off. While DIY hacks can help in a pinch, they aren’t an effective long-term solution for the very persistent problem of fogging glasses.
Try Anti-Fog Lenses From Zenni
At Zenni, the majority of our employees wear glasses and have been struggling with the same fog problems as you. Wanting a better long-term solution for everyone, we’re launching a special two-in-one coating for your lenses that both prevents fog and reduces glare on your lenses. Our new Anti-Fog + Anti-Reflective Coating is a hassle-free solution to foggy lenses, regardless of whether the obstructed vision is triggered by a face mask or something else.
Each pair of anti-fog-coated lenses come with a special anti-fog activator lens cloth to help keep them extra clear. When used together, the lens coating with activator lens cloth can provide several hours of fog-free lenses before needing to wipe with the lens cloth again.
Anti-fog lenses are great for anyone who has fog issues while wearing a mask, exercising, playing sports, or cooking. Healthcare workers and those who have a need for facial shields and goggles over their glasses will also find this coating essential in the workplace.
Pro tip: We recommend trying our new anti-fog lenses with Zenni’s general purpose protective glasses. They’re great for healthcare workers and situations where extra coverage is needed.
